Well well, if this ain’t the origin story we’ve been waiting for. Cates and team really crammed it into this issue. We begin to see the layers peeled back on the history of the family and a centuries old feud with the Landrys. Not to mention one of my favorite camp sites, Enchanted Rock gets a starring role in the book.

As always, the writing and the art work merge into a cunning story telling sledge hammer. This issue answered a lot of questions, as well as uncovering a few new ones. I’ll head back to Sulphur Springs next month and I’ll expect some answers.

This book continues to prove that its not your typical crossover for the sake of crossover book. Snyder and Orlando are weaving an intricate tale within, and we’ll see just how its outcome will affect the other Batman story arcs currently unfolding in the DC Rebirth Universe. This series really has grabbed me by the eyeballs and pulled me in. The art work within these pages has an incandescent quality that enhances our trek along the gnarly path the writers are leading us down. This book is firmly lodged into the chest cavity of the CBV Buy Pile. I recommend you take a long hard look at it.
